BEFORE CHOOSING A SADDLE

Your horse, your project

A saddle is chosen for a particular horse, rider and use. Assessment starts with the right questions.

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Take time to understand

Before proposing a model or configuration, we seek to understand your horse today, changes already observed and what you want to do together. Your answers guide the technical assessment; they cannot confirm a saddle on their own.

01 / YOUR HORSE

Where is your horse today?

Age, work, rest, body condition and lifestyle can change a horse’s conformation. A young horse starting work, for example, may change significantly over the years.

  • How old is your horse, and how long have you been together?
  • Does your horse live at pasture, in a stable or in another arrangement?
  • What work does your horse currently do?
  • How have its back and muscles changed?
  • What changes do you expect over the next few months?
02 / YOUR RIDING

What will you use the saddle for?

Flatwork, a day’s outing and weeks of travel do not require the same equipment. Duration, intended position, terrain and equipment carried all inform the requirements.

  • What do you do with your horse today?
  • What would you like to do this year and in the years ahead?
  • How long do you ride, and what equipment do you carry?
  • Will your riding and saddle position change?
  • What difficulties have you had with previous saddles?
03 / DESIGN

A structure with planned adjustments

The configuration is selected for your horse. Follow-up helps us assess certain panel adjustments.

04 / FOLLOW-UP

Observe over time

You know your horse’s everyday life and can report the changes you see. Sellerie Altaï assesses conformation, the saddle and its use. This dialogue helps decide whether new measurements or adjustments are needed.

ScanFit allows comparison of back scans taken at different times. They complement observation of the horse, saddle checks and trials in motion.

05 / GET STARTED

From first contact to your enquiry

Our first conversation establishes your request. If it needs further assessment, your Altaï enquiry gathers the horse’s history, photographs, useful measurements, your experience and intended use. We review these before confirming the configuration and quotation.

Before travelling far with your horse, prepare horse and rider, the project and the equipment. The saddle is part of that whole.
