MONGOLIAN LEATHER · MAKING · TRAIL RIDING
Mongolian leather · Nomad Leather
Our Mongolian saddle leather already comes from a tannery in Ulaanbaatar. Five years of experience and thousands of kilometres on the trail show how it performs in use.
Saddles, from workshop to trail

Hides and their origins

Leather already tanned in Mongolia.
When we offer a Mongolian leather saddle, the leather comes from the Ulaanbaatar tannery we already work with. It can supply the range’s three colours: brown, hazelnut and black. Saddles can also be made with French leather, depending on your chosen package.
Thickness and saddle construction.
The Mongolian cowhide available to us today is thinner than required for some saddle parts. We reinforce these parts with a second layer of leather underneath.
To source hides around 4.5 to 5 mm thick locally, we are now seeking bull hides from Mongolian suppliers. This work complements the Mongolian leather range already used in our saddles.
Five years in the field.
The Mongolian leather shown is already used in our saddles. Read the workshop’s reported experience and care advice in the library.

The next Nomad Leather goal is to find bull hides suitable for parts requiring greater thickness. Our Ulaanbaatar tannery can already make brown, hazelnut and black leather; this sourcing project does not determine availability of the Mongolian leather saddles shown here.
